Rain Water Harvesting Kits
The population continues to grow and with water supplies already hard-pressed to meet demand we need to look at alternative options. Nu-Heat’s rainwater harvesting system is a simple, cost-effective solution enabling access to a water supply that complements the mains water service and helps to reduce ecological impact of a home.

The premise is simple: rainwater is collected, filtered, stored and then used for non-potable purposes including toilets, washing machines, garden hoses, for cleaning cars and other applications. It is not suitable for baths, showers or washing dishes.

Far from having the dirty appearance one might expect, water from the sky normally only becomes spoiled when it meets the ground, so water collected through rainwater harvesting is actually clear and clean-looking.

What are the main advantages?

An average person uses around 18,000 litres of water annually just to flush toilets and wash clothes, so from the environmental perspective of saving water, rainwater harvesting is a logical choice.
Nu-Heat’s rainwater harvesting system can replace 30–50% of the mains water consumption, making a significant difference to an average family’s water bills where a meter is fitted.

Benefits at a glance

Rainwater Harvesting:
  • Is suitable for all non-potable domestic use
  • Allows financial savings due to reduction of metered water usage.
  • Improves environmental impact:
    - Helps to reduce the amount of water flowing into surface drains and, therefore, the risk of localised flooding.
    - Reduces demand on current under pressure water resources.
  • Can be used to achieve credits for the code for sustainable homes.
  • Forms a key part of the Sustainable Drainage Scheme (SUDS).
  • Can improve the overall BREEAM performance of a building.
  • Can be installed in both new and existing buildings.

Convenience

The user-friendly Nu-Heat rainwater harvesting system incorporates the latest technology and is easy to install and maintain.
It has been developed to provide the homeowner with a 'fit-and-forget' system, ensuring an automatic supply of harvested rainwater.

Design

Whether it is from a cost saving, environmental or water management standpoint, Nu-Heat will evaluate the site conditions and supply an economic, user-friendly system tailored for your specific building application.

Nu-Heat will assess each project individually to ensure correct sizing of tanks, filters and control systems calculated on factors such as local rainfall, roof area, drainage efficiency and occupancy.

The rainwater harvesting tank is an awkward size and shape therefore it can only be delivered to the nearest hard road surface. It is the customer’s responsibility to provide either a mechanical means of transferring parts or sufficient personnel to move it from the delivery vehicle to the site. If no forked vehicle is available a minimum of four persons will be needed to manually handle the tank using the handles provided.
